Brooklyn SharePoint User Group

While defining our startup’s direction, with respect to the SharePoint platform, we saw a small but strong community that could be robust in a city of New York’s size.
Coming from the deeply Microsoft rooted Seattle area we unfoundedly assumed that the community in New York would be as vibrant, if not more so, than that which we saw in the Northwest. What we found was a centralized group of very passionate people. But what about all of the SharePoint enthusiasts who, due to commutability among other factors, could not make it to the events in Manhattan? To help solve this problem we decided to start the Brooklyn SharePoint User Group (BKSPUG).
The idea behind BKSPUG is to provide a Brooklyn-based venue for SharePoint enthusiasts to learn and socialize.
Now, after having completed our second meet up, we feel that we are well on our way to achieving these goals thanks in large part to the great speakers we have had along with the support/assistance of the New York City SharePoint Developer User Group (NYCSDUG) and the New York City SharePoint User Group (NYCSPUG). Even with this though, there is still much more to be done before we can make this group the vibrant community we originally envisioned.
BKSPUG and groups like it are important to the overall SharePoint community because they increase awareness and interaction. By doing so, we help ensure that SharePoint continues to advance in both adoption and as a platform. For groups like BKSPUG to be effective in these pursuits, we need your feedback. Whether this feedback pertains to the content that is covered, the venue location, or the type of food we provide, the more we hear back from you the better. As we are still in the early stages of defining our group we need this feedback more than ever so that we can refine our strategies into something that everyone in the community can enjoy and benefit from.
The Brooklyn SharePoint User Group is held the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30PM to 7:30PM. We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you at a future meet up.
