This past Wednesday, February 12, 2014, we hosted our third and first BKSPUG (Brooklyn SharePoint User Group) in 2014. We are excited to have Jeremy Thake, VP of Global Product Innovation at AvePoint, speak about SharePoint Hosted Apps (Javascript and AngularJS). Our members braved the snowstorm that day and made it to The Yard where we hosted the event.

Jeremy started his presentation with a basic introduction to the SharePoint Application model: the auto-hosted and azure-hosted. He then did a demo of some of the applications he built. We had a great discussion on SharePoint development applications using angular.JS. When asked about their experience at BKSPUG, members, who are mostly SharePoint developers, felt the topic is very close to their work and Jeremy gave great tips for IT pro and SharePoint administrators.

At the end of his presentation, Jeremy announced his participation at SharePoint Conference (SPC14), the largest Microsoft SharePoint event in the world, in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 3-6 2014. As expected from a major event, SPC14 offers a wide variety of sessions from well-known SharePoint professionals and influencers. It’s a big treat for BKSPUG members to see Jeremy’s presentation, a preview of many more great sessions that will be delivered at SPC14.

Finally, thank you to all BKSPUG members for joining us despite the weather! Stay tune for the next BKSPUG meeting at www.meetup.com/bkspug
